Vietnam: A Case of Success?

Whether you like it or not, the Vietnam case is quite interesting. Of the 210 nations battling the virus, the country stands among the lowest for contamination, 268 cases in mid April. With 95 million people, Vietnam ranks alongside midget nations like Malta 399 cases, Mayotte 217 cases, Martinique 158 cases and Guadeloupe 145 cases..., places usually people dream about for vacations. And for a breaking news: Vietnam got its first death today April 15th! Assuming that the data were not cooked, could we consider Vietnam a success story? Let's take a look. How unusual a developing nation with a poor infrastructure and inadequate health system could beat the odds and be among the leaders against this virus? It is even more startling when you see its location next to the epicenter of the outbreak. 2020 The Year of the Virus

January 24th, on the eve of the Year of the Rat, an ominous sign caught my eye with the virus news from China. The outbreak went unnoticed for most of us during the earlier month. With my knack for prophecies I had already checked in December 2019 for possible bad events in 2020. All was quiet on the prediction front. Nostradamus disciples and pundits and Mrs Vanga admirers expounded on many subjects, from Mr Trump's health and his  reelection to Mr Putin's fate, with a possible putsch in the Kremlin. Not a single word on any virus with a crown! To say the least my interest for soothsayer's truth has taken a beating.  This mind blowing event is more than a wake up call. It will have long lasting and existential consequences for all. If you asked me what type of occurrence could surpass this in gravity and impact, I would say none.
